There are only three apartments in the building.
The property is about 220 metres from the beach.
It is the first time the home has come up on the rental market since Mr Vautin sold it to an investment company less than a year ago for $3.25m.
Rent has been set at $2,250 a week – which amounts to $117,000 a year after a one-year contract.
The five bedroom, three bathroom, double car spot twin-floor penthouse was listed by real estate agency Professionals – John Henderson in Mermaid Beach as a “decadent light filled apartment in the heart of Mermaid Beach, steps from the sand and surf of some of the best beaches the coast has to offer”.
Ready for its next occupant to set up their own style.
There are retractable louvres to add privacy and keep out any bad weather.
The rooftop level also has its own kitchen, giving dual living options for multigenerational families or to keep game day mess away from the downstairs main kitchen.
The celebrated rooftop zone has retractable louvres to deal with any wayward Queensland rainclouds, a built-in TV and a fireplace for the rare chill that crops up during winter. It also has the home’s second fully equipped kitchen with integrated fridge/freezer and servery window, plus a large bedroom and bathroom.
There is elevator access from the downstairs car park, with home’s lower floor hosting a Hampton’s-inspired interior, second kitchen and open plan living zone, master suite, children’s retreat or second living area, two large bedrooms, the main bathroom, laundry, fifth bedroom or home office and a covered balcony with full length patio bar.

There’s also another bar zone running the length of the lower level veranda.
The beach lifestyle is a major drawcard for many people moving to Queensland.
