The International Café & Beverage Show (ICBS) 2023, a three-day showcase of artisan food, beverages, and café products, was recently held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The three-day event was organised by Montgomery Asia in collaboration with the Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA) as a platform for industry professionals and coffee enthusiasts.
ICBS 2023, which took place from May 25 to 27, 2023, saw significant expansion, with a remarkable 90% increase in floor space taken up by exhibitors. More than 250 firms from seven nations gathered to show off their unique products, services, and equipment to a receptive audience. The exhibition hall was packed with interesting displays, engaging workshops, and interactive experiences that reflected Malaysia’s rich and growing café culture.
The show drew a record-breaking number of visitors, an increase of 80% over the three-day span. ICBS 2023 easily outnumbered the estimated 8,000 guests, making it an essential destination for coffee and cuisine connoisseurs. The tremendous reaction confirms the country’s growing interest and enthusiasm for speciality coffee, café culture, and the larger beverage industry.
“We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of ICBS 2023. A massive increase in participating companies and almost 11,000 visitors (an 80% growth) speaks volumes about the tremendous potential of this exhibition and the fast growth of the café and F&B industries here in Malaysia. We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, the Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association, for their exceptional contribution, especially with the enthralling finale of the Malaysian National Coffee Championships. We can’t wait for an even bigger better ICBS in 2024”.

The newly crowned’national champion’ baristas will represent Malaysia at the World Coffee Championships (WCC) in 2024. Despite Malaysia’s comparatively brief history of international competition, previous Malaysian winners have successfully earned gold and silver medals on the world arena. These exceptional Malaysian baristas will be able to demonstrate their abilities and passion on a worldwide stage, thereby improving Malaysia’s place in the world of speciality coffee. It is hoped that their remarkable talent would be rewarded with additional success at the World of Coffee Championships 2024.
The next edition, ICBS 2024, has already re-booked over 65% of its exhibitors, the majority of whom aim to take a larger area than this year, demonstrating the exhibition’s exponential expansion. ICBS 2024 will be relocated to larger rooms at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in anticipation of sustained success and increased demand. This extension will accommodate the growing number of companies eager to be a part of the vibrant atmosphere and take advantage of the opportunities provided by ICBS.
Looking ahead, ICBS 2024 promises to be even better. The organisers are thrilled to debut the Food2 Go area in response to developing market trends, highlighting the growing popularity of F&B delivery services and takeaway innovations. ICBS 2024 will give an international platform for café owners, managers, suppliers, and industry professionals to network, find high-quality items, and explore creative concepts as the exhibition’s scope expands.
ICBS has now firmly established itself as the region’s principal event for the café and beverage industry. The exceptional growth, enthusiastic exhibitor participation, and record-breaking visitor numbers have created tremendous excitement for ICBS 2024, which will allow café professionals and the coffee/café loving community to interact with industry experts and learn more about the vibrant world of speciality coffee, café culture, and food and beverage innovation.
