Housed within the sizable 43.5mm x 13.7mm thick all-titanium case, the ceramic tachymeter bezel further leans into the primary color palette, and a pulsometer scale has been added around the flange for added functionality. The chronograph functions and pushers have all been imbued with Basquiat references and deeper meanings, further strengthening the connection between the artist and the carefully considered craftsmanship behind the watch itself. The PVD chronograph pushers and crown have received the Basquiat treatment: there’s a yellow crown symbol on the crown itself, a Copyright symbol on the Cancel/Reset pusher, and finally, a $ symbol atop the Start/Stop chronograph pusher. The chronograph subdials are not without their own form of symbolism – when the chronograph is engaged, the minutes disk turns, emblazoned with the recurrent themes of Life, Death, and Humanity throughout the work of Basquiat. The endlessly turning seconds disk positioned at nine o’clock is also intended to connect to the artist’s concern for life’s complexity.
