It’s a striking design and something wonderfully collectible in Nomos history, but the real star here is the watch in yellow gold, the ref. 112. I took a photo of this watch and went about my merry way, not thinking much of it until I sent it to the NCA guys. Their reaction was, essentially, “holy cow, it does exist!” Apparently, the watch was pictured in catalogs and shared online as available from 1997 to 1999, but no one in the community of friends had ever seen one in person. In fact, they had thought to ask Nomos if one had ever been made, but they never got that far. This photo is one of the few records that a yellow gold watch of this kind was actually ever produced. Apparently, the demand wasn’t that high for gold watches from an otherwise affordable demand. Nomos didn’t even seem to know exactly how many were made, but I’d guess that it’s probably less than ten, maybe even less than five. If you see one, jump on it.
