Nicknamed the “Chocolate Sapphire,” this Speedmaster (reference 311.30.42.30.13.001) was produced from 2007-2013, and while it was never a limited edition, it was also not produced in large quantities. The dial is brown, like an old Speedmaster that has gone “tropical” – the term for dials that have faded from long-term exposure to sunlight. The lume is also yellowed slightly to match the tropical brown. Unlike most “fauxtina” though, this color is not overly yellow, but more off-white. It is the best use of colored Super-LumiNova this writer has ever seen. Besides the dial change, this is every bit the typical Speedy Pro of the time, with a Lemania 1863 caliber that is a better-finished version of the 1861 since it is visible through the sapphire caseback.
