The Italian builder’s new all-aluminum displacement yacht breaks new ground with appealing performance and sophisticated architectural interior design.
The Ferretti Group’s Custom Line brand has begun construction on its new flagship, the Navetta 50. Designed entirely in aluminum with a displacement hull under 500 gross tons, the new yacht features an architectural interior design that employs sustainable materials and innovate use of space, eco-friendly performance and forward-looking construction methods.
With a length overall of 49.9 meters (164 feet) and a beam of 9.6 meters (35 feet), the Custom Line Navetta 50 extends across four decks in a layout that revolves around the positioning of the master suite in the bow on the upper deck, from which all the onboard spaces develop. The master suite is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a 180-degree view and provides direct access to a large private terrace in the bow, complete with sunset solarium.
The interconnection between interiors and exteriors is replicated in all the guest areas, particularly the lounges on the main and upper decks. This is obtained by using large floor-to-ceiling windows and reflective surfaces, which give the sensation of being on an island surrounded by water.
The Custom Line Navetta 50 project is the result of collaboration between the Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Department team led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard Engineering Unit. The exterior styling is by Filippo Salvetti. ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel designed the interior architecture and decoration, infusing it with a sense of refinement and sophistication that embodies the personality, values and heritage of the brand, including the reinterpretation of yacht building tradition from a contemporary perspective. It is the yard’s second collaboration with ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel.
The interior design is focused on sophisticated detailing and the use of fine, sustainable materials, including natural leathers, used both in the finishes and in the detailing of the custom designed furnishings, and executed by the yard’s skilled craftsmen. An in-depth study of the yacht’s volumes was used to fine-tune liveability and deliver maximum comfort on board, providing the owner with very generous spaces normally found on much larger yachts.
The yacht’s exterior design features outdoor spaces that give each deck its own individual personality, creating what are best described as terraces overlooking the water. The beach club at the water’s edge is in direct contact with the aft outdoor area on the main deck, which is fitted out as a private lounge. These two exterior spaces are integrated by a rectangular pool in the stern.
The open-air spaces continue with a large bow area, which can be customized according to the owner’s wishes, and an expansive sun deck that can be used as a lounge. It is joined by over 70 square meters (753 square feet) of interior space reserved for the dining area and American bar. The bow area on the sun deck can also be customized with a Jacuzzi and solarium.
In addition to the master suite, the Navetta 50 offers four guest cabins on the lower deck accommodating a total of 10. The yacht carries nine crew, including the captain.
The use of aluminum rather than steel, which weighs three times as much, cuts fuel consumption by an estimated 10 to 15 percent on a 50-meter boat of the same size and volume. As with most yachts, the best efficiency is obtained at the cruising speed for which the vessel is designed. At cruise, the increased range over a similarly sized steel vessel is estimated at 10-15 percent.
Custom Line Navetta 50 hull number 1 will also be SCR ready (Selective Catalytic Reduction). Construction will come with environmental benefits as well. The Superyacht Yard in Ancona has a trigeneration plant producing electric, heat and cooling power, which reduces the consumption of electricity by up to 79 percent and heat energy by 32 percent, with annual primary energy savings of 20 percent.
Available finishes on the Navetta 50 include Alpi Lignum walnut paneling—a living, certified and eco-sustainable material that complies with the strictest international standards. The ZeroF version is produced with zero added formaldehyde and mixers. The Foglizzo natural hides and leathers used on the yacht, feature 100 percent recycled materials.
Construction work on the first Custom Line Navetta 50 has already begun and the yacht will be ready for presentation in 2024.
